Happy Sunday everyone!! I should start out by saying that I don’t typically go to the movies unless I REALLY want to see something. I have a hard time sitting still and I often like to talk just a little too much. So that being said, I read the books and wanted to see what all the hype was about, so I spent my Sunday afternoon watching 50 Shades of Grey with a couple of friends.

First of all let me say that I the main reason I wanted to see this movie was to see how on earth they were going to put all those sex scenes on the big screen. I mean the entire first book is filled with sex and it was basically like reading porn.

So how did the movie play out? For starters there was a lot of nudity for both people, mainly the main actress Dakota Johnson. Surprisingly enough there was a decent amount of crazy sex scenes just like the book which honestly made me a little uncomfortable. I almost felt like I was watching soft-core porn today with a dozen other people.

How was the acting? Mediocre at best. Dakota was actually pretty good however the man they found to play Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan), I was not impressed with at all. I almost felt like he was the one making things very awkward. I also didn’t find him particularly attractive so that probably didn’t help things. Now if Ian Somerhalder had played him I might be writing a slightly different review.

So basically the movie was just okay in my book. I actually thought the book was much better-the characters had much more chemistry in the book then they seemed to in the movie. I know I’m a little late to the party with this review but I figured why not, maybe I can save someone $10 and just wait until it comes on demand!

Have you seen the movie? What did you think and did you like the book better? Tell us in the comments below!

Cheers!

xoxo Lindsay

Hi Lindsey, I’m a new visitor to your blog! I agree with you 100%, Jaime Dornan’s acting was a bit lack luster. There’s parts of the book I wish they hadn’t cut out because it would have shown a sweeter side to their relationship. But basically yes it was like watching soft core porn.

I’ve never had any desire to read the books or see the movie but I’ve been reader many people’s reviews on the movie. I might watch it in the future but it’s not something I have on the horizon.
