Can we go thrift shopping? {Poppin’ Tags}

Here in Rhode Island there are three different kinds of thrift shops-a store called Savers, Salvation Army, and Goodwill. I’m not sure if Savers is around elsewhere but here it’s pretty great! I mostly shop at Savers for my Halloween costume supplies for DIY outfits, however every time I go there I end up finding some really awesome clothes!

So anyways, the other day, I decided to stop at Savers (the good one) which isn’t really close to my house so I have a hard time getting there. I went in with the purpose of finding a jean jacket and a few shirts. How did I do?

Pretty freakin’ awesome!

Purchased 1 coral jean jacket for $10 (btw I get so many compliments on it!)

Purchased 1 short sleeve Ann Taylor top for $10

Purchased 1 long sleeve striped shirt from Old Navy $3

Purchased 1 brand new short sleeve shirt from Target $2

Not quite the haul that I was looking for–but I think I did pretty well!!

Tips?

  • Be prepared to rummage. You won’t find that diamond in the rough if you pass through all the racks. Literally, go through each item.
  • Find a good store. Don’t just go to any thrift store but hunt around and find out where the largest selection is.
  • Go with a few goals in mind of what you are looking for. It does help to be focused so that way you aren’t overwhelmed.

Used clothes skeeve you out?

I’ll be honest they kinda skeeve me out as well but I think as long as you wash everything first you should be golden. It’s almost the same thing as when you buy clothes from the GAP or J Crew, you are most likely buying something someone has tried on and who knows who they were.

Let me know what thrift store you like to shop at and what type of deals you score!

Cheers!
