You will never go hungry while in Key West.  The number of places to eat is endless!  There is a place for everyone to enjoy.  Some of the most popular are The Hard Rock Café, Margaritaville, Hog’s Breath Saloon, Nine One Five – Bistro and wine bar, Lobster House, Alonzo’s Oyster Bar, Conch Republic Seafood Company, Rooftop Café, Mangia Mangia Pasta Café, and Camille’s.  If you’re not in the mood for a sit down meal, and just need a snack there are plenty of road side places to grab a burger or a quick bite to eat.

One of my favorite places to stop was the Key Lime Pie Shoppes.  In those shops you can find anything that is key lime flavored.  My favorite snack from there was a piece of chocolate dipped key lime pie on a stick with a bottle of key lime soda to wash it down!  Yummy!

The night life in Key West is something I’ve never experienced before. If you are a night owl, and enjoy a busy night life then you are defiantly on the right island!  The evening starts off every night with a sunset celebration at Mallory Square Dock.  Every night one to two hours before sunset hundreds of people gather by the water along with street performers, art and craft exhibitors, and food vendors to watch the sun set into the Gulf of Mexico.  It truly is a breath taking sunset.  While the bars are open all day long for people to enjoy, and usually offer happy hour specials, the true night life picks up after about 10pm.  Almost all of the bars offer live entertainment, and drink specials.  The bars are so close together that you can stop in for a drink, and then finish it while walking to the next location.  If you truly want to have a fun filled night I suggest stopping by one of the gay bars that are on the island, and watching a drag queen show!  The shows are at various times during the evening and last for about two hours.  The admission is around $10.00, and is worth every cent!  These ladies sing along to songs, and dance.  They also do short comedy skits.  They constantly interact with the audience, and make sure that everyone is having a great time throughout the entire show.  The night life in Key West goes on for most of the night before most of the people are doing what is called the “Duval Crawl” back to their homes, and hotels.

So if you’re looking for the most options of fun in the most easy to navigateplace then Key West is surely the place for you.  There is no wrong time of year to visit this fun little island, because there is always plenty going on.  I would advise people traveling with children, however, not to visit the island during the last week in October.  This week in Key West is known as the yearly Fantasy Fest.  Clothing is optional just about everywhere you go, and the majority of people walk around wearing nothing but body paint.  Though it may be fun for adventurous adults it may not be appropriate for younger visitors.  So pack your bags, check your worries at the door, and enjoy this fabulous little island!
