This weekend was pretty good until it started raining cats and dogs on Sunday. Although the rain didn’t ruin my weekend too much because on Sunday I woke up feeling really awful, as in the start of a cold was brewing. So needless to say I spent today with a crazy sore throat and half of my voice. But anyways on Sunday my mom spent the day cooking for us, from this new cookbook I received and let her try out. The plan had been for us to cook together but I was sick and dizzy that I spent the whole day in bed.
The cookbook I received is called Grill It, Braise It, Boil It. It’s produced by the American Heart Association and really does provide healthy recipes for all types of at-home cooks! The meal my mom chose to make was Flank Steak with Chimichurri Sauce. She says that the recipe was pretty easy as long as you have a food processor! Also the sauce ends up being quite a lot, so you might want to scale down when making it.

I think that our meal came out really well! There are a few other recipes that I want to try as well. Some of the recipes are easy enough to make with stuff you have on hand but others might require a trip to the store. I am dying to try out a few smoothie recipes I saw that involve, kale and blueberries! If I make that I’ll have to let you know how it came out! In the mean time here are a few pictures of our dinner:

The only thing I didn’t really like about this book is there are hardly any pictures, it would have been nice to see a few more. I hope everyone is having a good Monday and also had a nice weekend! Did the rain ruin your plans? Tell us in the comments below!
Disclaimer: I recieved this book for free in exchange for my review, all opinions are my own

June 23, 2015 at 3:16 pm (3 years ago)Here in Colorado we have been getting a ton of rain, but this weekend it was actually warm and sunny. Fortunately for us, on most days we just get thunderstorms in the late afternoon/evening so it doesn’t ruin the whole day, but on the days when it is raining nonstop, I tend to do a lot of cooking and organizing. I have been on a huge purging kick lately and rainy days are ideal for that.
