I know that I’ve mentioned how crazy busy I have been but I wanted to share with you the trip I took over Memorial Day weekend. Many of you know I am from Rhode Island and we are known for our beaches. There is a great little island called Block Island that you need to take a ferry to get too–I have been many times as a kid but I hadn’t been back in a few years.
Chris (boyfriend) had never been before and when another couple asked us if we wanted to go, of course we said yes! My boyfriend has a love/hate relationship with Rhode Island, most likely because he’s from CT and apparently they think they are great, ha ha. So anyways I always get thrilled to show him really cool places in Rhode Island because I know how awesome it really is.
We drove from NJ (where he lives) all the way to New London, CT where we took the ferry from. We were meeting another couple, Chris’s friends, who I had never met before. Thankfully they both turned out to be awesome! We had an awesome ferry ride over, complete with beers, and sun!
We checked into the Rose Farm Inn, which was just okay, the rooms were nothing fancy, and for the price they should have been! Regardless, it was very pretty! The first day was pretty chilly which meant Chris had to buy me a sweatshirt and sweatpants for our moped ride, but oh well. We rented the mopeds for two days.
The first thing we saw was the South East Lighthouse and then the Mohegan Bluffs. The bluffs took about a million flights of stairs to climb down but boy was it worth it! We also sped all around the island, stopped for mudslides, and some pretty good seafood while we were there. The North East Lighthouse was too far to walk too so I just have a picture. We also stopped at the Labyrinth which was also pretty cool!
If you visit Block Island during the more warmer months, there are even more things to do. I really want to go back when it’s a tad warmer. So basically my Memorial Day turned out to be pretty awesome. My boyfriend is so sweet, taking me all these places! How was your Memorial Day?
