• 7 things I’ve learned living alone

    It’s been almost 7 months that I’ve been living “alone”, I use that loosely since I spend a lot of time at my boyfriends house 😉 Anyways, occurred to me that even though I am only home a few days a week I have really learned a lot about myself while living here. I thought I might put into words how having my first apartment has affected me, before I go and move in with my boyfriend eventually. I go through A LOT of toilet paper!! Does anyone else feel like they are blowing through toilet paper? Cooking for one is no fun! I hate cooking for myself, which has…

  • I tried HelloFresh: here’s what happened

    This week is going on my second week in my new apartment. Last week, being my first week, I opted to try HelloFresh for my week night meals, to save time and a bit of money. HelloFresh is pretty expensive but if you know someone who has tried it, chances are you can get a discount which was the case with me. So what happens is, you sign up for HelloFresh, either by coupon code or you just pay the regular amount, and then you get to customize your box/recipes. I opted for 3 meals for 2 people. The box comes refrigerated which is great and was waiting for me…

  • Homemade Mexican Tortilla Soup

    I think we all know how much I love this time of year, and not just for pumpkin flavored everything. The other thing that I LOVE is getting in the kitchen and cooking. One of my favorite things to cook during these colder months is soup. I learned that making your own soup from mostly scratch is super fun and quite easy. Creating different soups has become one of my favorite things to do. The last time I was visiting the boyfriend in New Jersey, he requested soup. Now, I can make quite a few soups, but he requested a Mexican tortilla soup to be exact. I’m not sure I’ve…

  • 7 things to do this weekend {October}

    I can’t believe this weekend is the beginning of October–how quickly is this school year is going by?! So anyways, with October approaching, some of my favorite fall activities can finally be done! This weekend I’m not doing a whole lot; my second job starts this weekend (tutoring) and then it will probably be spent doing more homework. So as you can see, nothing too exciting going on here. However if I had some free time, I would love to be doing something on this list! Research a DIY Halloween costume Head to the Big E (if you’re from New England) if you’re not, I suggest a similar fair closer…

  • Waffle Maker French Toast

    I’ve always seen the different types of food that could be cooked in a waffle maker but up until now, the only thing I made was waffles. This weekend in New Jersey, I made soup (recipe to come) but I bought bread to have with it. We hardly ever buy bread, mainly because I can’t control myself (true story). So needless to say there was leftover bread on Saturday morning. Leftover bread was the perfect excuse to try making french toast in my waffle maker. The result? AMAZING! I honestly wish I had more bread at the time because it was really delicious! [amd-zlrecipe-recipe:1] It’s safe to say I will…

  • Rainy Days & a Recipe

    This weekend was pretty good until it started raining cats and dogs on Sunday. Although the rain didn’t ruin my weekend too much because on Sunday I woke up feeling really awful, as in the start of a cold was brewing. So needless to say I spent today with a crazy sore throat and half of my voice. But anyways on Sunday my mom spent the day cooking for us, from this new cookbook I received and let her try out. The plan had been for us to cook together but I was sick and dizzy that I spent the whole day in bed. The cookbook I received is called…
